MrPremium.com, a boutique domain brokerage owned and operated by Mark Ghoriafi, has become something of a specialist in .IO domain names. The .IO extension is popular in tech and cryptocurrency circles in particular, and it’s no coincidence that .IO has been producing strong five- and six-figure sales in a bullish cryptocurrency market.
Ghoriafi has revealed that on the back of sales such as Domain.io for $50,000 and Teach.io for $35,000, he has now sold the domain Boxing.io for the equivalent of $65,000 in Bitcoin. The dollar price was calculated by Ghoriafi based on Bitcoin’s value on the day of the sale. According to Ghoriafi, the initial offer for Boxing.io was just $5,000.
As of writing, the domain name hasn’t been put to use, but it’s likely that the domain will be developed in connection with the sport of boxing. Recently, Boxing.io’s big brother, Boxing.com also reportedly changed hands in a deal that may have been valued at over $1 million.
Another sale disclosed by Ghoriafi is his $10,000 brokered sale of Arrive.io, a name that was acquired by vacation rental investment company Arrive. The $10,000 sale coincided with Arrive’s $250,000 funding round.
Since reporting the $35,000 sale of Teach.io, MrPremium.com shared that it has brokered $102,500 in .IO sales, taking the company’s total to around $550,000 in .IO sales in the past nine months.
