A truly exceptional domain name has been confirmed as sold after it moved from a GoDaddy account to corporate registrar SafeNames.
The transfer of Meet.com was first spotted by Jamie Zoch on Twitter, who noted:
Meet․com transfers to SafeNames from GoDaddy and has potentially sold.

Zoch also reported that the domain name had a $5 million asking price.
The sale of Meet.com has now been confirmed, with VPN.com founder Michael Gargiulo telling me that the name did indeed sell, but further details are unavailable. VPN.com had been brokering the domain name.
As of writing, the buyer of Meet.com has not been revealed, with the name registered to a generic SafeNames address and holding a standard SafeNames landing page.
With the emergence of the likes of Zoom and Teams as important platforms for meetings, perhaps Meet.com will enter the arena as the brand name for a rival piece of software?

I heard about the “Meet” project(or tocken) at IRC before the NFT craze.
