Last week, domain marketplace Sedo closed the sale of Laced.com for $250,000.
At the time of the sale, little was known about the buyer. We knew that the domain was registered at GoDaddy under WHOIS privacy protection, and that was it.
In my October Sedo Sales Roundup, I speculated that the buyer could be Laced, a British sneaker marketplace that operates on Laced.co.uk.
I was right. Navigating to Laced.com now forwards visitors to Laced.co.uk.
Founded in 2018, Laced is a sneaker marketplace selling authentic, trendy brands such as Air Jordan, Yeezy, and Travis Scott.
Since the marketplace has a worldwide audience, it certainly makes sense to operate on Laced.com rather than the UK ccTLD, Laced.co.uk.
