A new company has made an impactful domain upgrade months after rebranding.
Plain is a customer service platform founded in 2020 by Simon Rohrbach and Matt Vagni. The London-based startup launched under the name Resolve using GetResolve.com.
Just a year after launching, Resolve rebranded to Plain. Naturally, the company switched domain names, opting to use Plain.co, a name that was listed for sale using an Efty landing page, according to DomainIQ’s WHOIS history.
It seems that Plain.co was a stepping stone to something better, since around a month after rebranding to Plain, the company upgraded to Plain.com. WHOIS history suggests the acquisition may have taken place in mid-September 2021.
Details of the domain acquisition aren’t publicly available, and there has been no announcement about Plain’s new domain. Instead, Plain quietly switched from Plain.co to Plain.com.
The sale of Plain.com may have been brokered by domain marketplace Sedo. Plain.com was featured in some Sedo press emails from September 2021. Unfortunately, Sedo wasn’t able to confirm or deny its involvement in this domain deal.
