Greenhouse Software, a talent acquisition software company based in New York, has completed the acquisition of Greenhouse.com.
For Greenhouse, this marks a major upgrade from its original domain, Greenhouse.io.
Founded in 2012, Greenhouse has raised a total of $110.1 million through funding rounds between 2012 and 2018. Last year, private equity giant TPG closed on a $500 million investment to take a majority stake in Greenhouse. A Forbes article cites a valuation of $820 million.
The TPG stake comes after Greenhouse was forced to lay off a quarter of its employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.
TPG’s control of the company may have influenced Greenhouse’s acquisition of Greenhouse.com.
The transfer of Greenhouse.com was spotted by Jamie Zoch on Twitter, noting that domain marketplace Sedo handled the escrow process.
According to NameBio, the domain was previously sold at Afternic in 2007 for $500,000. More recently, Greenhouse.com was redirecting to the DNX.com marketplace, a private premium domain platform operated by MediaOptions.
Greenhouse.com transferred from a Sedo holding account to a Gandi registrar account, with the registrant listed as Greenhouse Software. As of publishing, Greenhouse.com resolves to a default Gandi landing page, but it’s likely to begin redirecting to Greenhouse.io.
